Mini-Holiday Giveaway! A Stay in a Palm Springs Architectural Gem

Last month, I wrote about how Palm Springs is the perfect destination for a 24-hour vacation that can can actually make you feel totally refreshed and inspired (plus detoxed or retoxed, per your personal preference — hey, no judgement).

Now, I’m giving my readers a chance to score your own perfect 24-hour vacation in Palm Springs!

Your one-night stay in the chicer-than-ever desert destination comes from my fabulous partner, the Del Marcos Hotel. (Regular readers will remember we stayed here for our first trip as a couple away from the twins, back in December.)

The 1947 treasure was designed by William F. Cody, the architect behind the futuristic and iconic Encounter restaurant structure at LAX. There are 17 adults-only rooms, which include many original furnishings and accents from the midcentury modern period. It’s a well-known place among the design cognoscenti — and Palm Springs City Council made its historic designation official in 2012 — although it had been new to me. (Apparently I don’t actually know everything — weird.)

The location can’t be beat, right off the Palm Canyon Drive main drag — making for an easy walk to dining, drinking, and shopping (love you, Trina Turk)… that is, after you spend your morning with the included continental breakfast and coffee, and a dip in the saltwater pool. Or, head out for a ride on your loaner beach cruiser bikes, also included! Bonus: The joint is pet friendly to boot.

To win the one-night stay at the Del Marcos (available any time in July or August, based on availability), just leave a comment here telling me why you want/need/deserve to win. And then off you go!

I’ll pick and announce the winner on Friday, July 17… just in time to announce my next big travel giveaway. (You’re not going to want to miss that one either, BTW.)

Good luck!

Update, July 17, 2015:
Congrats to the winner! So many wonderful people posted here who are deeply deserving of vacations. But I picked Rachel Brehm who wrote the following:

“My husband and I have not had a night away since before the twins were born…over a year ago. I had a rough pregnancy, and I had two months of hospitalized bed rest. My husband slept in the hospital with me EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. We then had 3 weeks in the NICU, one trip to the ER for breathing issues with one baby, then another trip to the ER where the other baby was hospitalized in the PICU for bronchiolitis for 6 days. Just a few weeks ago the babies got tonsillitis…back to back. I almost went crazy!! in the midst of all this, we celebrated our first wedding anniversary. I would love for us to be able to get away for one night, just the two of us. We so deserve a night off from the babies to rest, reconnect, and to have fun! (One night is plenty, or I will miss the babies too much)”

Enjoy, Rachel!

We love Palm Springs and it’s our little ones favorite too! Not gonna lie, we might not deserve but who doesn’t need a little p.s. I love you in their lives! Thanks for introducing us to this excellent looking spot!

Because I have a rambunctious one year old and the last time we tried to go away for the weekend, he got sick, and we had to return home less than 24 hours later. A make-up weekend getaway is much needed.

I’m about to (hopefully) start a new chapter in my life, oh how a weekend getaway would get me in the right frame of mind! What better way to clear my head? Plus, dog-friendly rules! I’m a huge fan of WF Cody, and have never seen this amazing property!

My bespoke caftan is getting very little action in the Bay Area, and I should, more than ever, be (but am not yet) way too tan to work.

Obsessed with Palm Springs but have never tried this hotel! We got engaged a month ago and we have been so busy spending time with our lovely friends and family…but we could definitely use some quality time in PS!

Oh my goodness, this sounds dreamy. Location, design, night away with the out the child… I deserve this because my 40th birthday falls on the day you announce the winner of the contest. What better birthday gift? Plus, romantic one night get away for two hard working parents!

Oh my goodness this place looks amaze!!!! The thought of a quick 24-hour getaway sounds like the perfect amount of time to hit the refresh button! The summer used to be weeks upon weeks of downtime and CAMP and now it’s more of a hustle with kids! How fun is this giveaway?!

Hi! What a wonderful giveaway! I would LOVE to win a night away to recharge! After going straight from full-time work as a social worker with high school students in LAUSD to full-time mama-hood for the past 5 months, one solid nights’ sleep would be AMAZING (as you can see from the time I’m posting this, I haven’t slept even close to a full night since my son was born). Pick me! Pick me! 😉

ooh! Can I win it for someone else please???! My friends Morgan and Chris, and (maybe / maybe not) they’re little munchkin Jack, could totally use a quick 24 hour rejuvenation! And they won’t do it on their own. Pick them through me! xxoo
