About Me

I’m Alesandra Dubin, but I go by Alice. You can reach me here.

I’m a digital media writer, editor, reporter, and blogger based in Los Angeles.

I married a fellow L.A. native in August 2010 and we love our city and restoring our new-to-us 1936 Spanish-style home. And as of July 2014… we’re new parents to boy-girl twins! That’s when I naturally shifted this blog a bit to include more general lifestyle content including family-relevant topics, while keeping the main focus on travel.

In short, this blog is about travel, home, and lifestyle. And it’s really all about my journey to live an awake, loving, and joyful life, even when that means pushing through obstacles.

Find me…

  • writing away in my converted garage-office.
  • parenting my boy-girl twin babies.
  • voraciously consuming traditional media, blogs, and social media while…
  • eschewing all pseudoscientific, fear-mongering, paranoid, or generally joyless parenting content.
  • collecting more prints and patterns for my wardrobe (current faves: Trina Turk, Show Me Your Mumu, Rachel Pally)
  • sitting in the salon chair for painstaking nail art sessions.
  • working on my fitness (recent convert/zealot to ClassPass), especially my postpartum diastasis recti (current obsession: Mutu System)
  • cuddling my two rescue kitties.
  • abusing my emoji privileges.
  • hiking, beach-going, or otherwise enjoying the riches of Los Angeles.
  • dreaming up new travel ideas and plans.
  • happily traveling, to places near and far.

I’m most happy when I’m traveling — and also when I’m cozy at home. That’s why I’ve called this blog Homebody in Motion.

I’m honored that you’re along on the journey.

Greetings and Thank you Alice Since I just happen to be in the middle of doing as you do- quote-” researching the hell out of international vacations justifying in elaborate ways to my husband and myself” end quote– (!) I was fortunate and somehow— bound to find you! I had earlier made a reservation for Neorion Hotel in Istanbul and was glad to come upon your positive review. Endless choices for Istanbul hotels and all that… We will be in Istanbul 3 days Oct 31-Nov 3. Therefore–any special eateries you would like to suggest since you have been there and done that?! I appreciate your time! You can understand why my research has only just begun and with 7 months to go–I am running out of time. 🙂 I am not the same for having seen the moon on the other side of the world and I have not been everywhere yet but it is on my list. Mary
    Thanks, Mary

      Hi Mary!

I’m very excited for your trip. I hope you have a wonderful journey, and fun months of anticipation leading up — isn’t that part of the joy of travel? I hope you’ll enjoy the Neorion as we did. As far as restaurants, here’s one place walking distance (or easy public transit) away from the hotel that we enjoyed for its spectacular views:

      Bon voyage!
